Editing an Existing Page

Editing an existing page is the most common thing you are likely to do on your website. Editing means changing the information on a page that has already been created. This includes everything from correcting a typographical error to replacing outdated information or adding several paragraphs of new information.

Note: if you are wanting to add a new page vs. new information to an existing page, visit Adding a New Page for instructions.

Editing Content

Start by bringing up the page you wish to edit. There are two ways to do this.

  1. Use the navigation to view the page, then use the 'Edit' link on the left side of the Blue Control Bar at the top of the page. OR
  2. Go to Pages - second link down on the black Admin bar on the left - search for the page you wish to edit and click the [Edit] button to the far right of that page title.

Both methods work equally well for editing a page. Use the one that makes the most sense to you.

Edit Mode

You will know you are in edit mode because you will see areas that are outlined in blue highlights. Anything inside these blue outlined areas can be edited. Things you see outside the blue outlined areas may also be editable, but not here.

Editing text

Place your cursor inside the blue highlight lines and type! When you're finished adding / editing the information (content), use the blue [Publish] button at the top right of the page to save your work. That's it! It's that simple! As soon as you click the [Publish] button the world will be able to see your work.

And More . . .

There is much more you can do on your website pages . . . much more that you will want to do. Add images. Create links. Play videos. etc. Because there is so very much you can do, and each thing has it's own process - most of them simple, most of them similar, but with a unique component to each process, we will tackle them one at a time. You'll be able to see a long list of editing options on the sidebar.
